Sarah & Jean – Falls Church, Virginia

This past weekend, Laura and I spent 9 hours driving up to the D.C. area for my friend’s wedding to a Swiss Pastor. We were so happy to provide the wedding photography for Sarah’s wedding because she’s such a great friend (and as we found out, so is her new husband), and we knew we would have an amazing time (1, because the two families were, quite literally, THE BEST and 2, because everyone and everything associated with the wedding was so beautiful). Plus, we would have wanted to come up for the wedding anyway. She married Jean Decorvet, a 6th generation pastor who loves history and seems to look a bit like a mix between Tom Cruise and Pierce Brosnan.

Well, it all worked out so well, even with the 40 degree weather and rain the entire weekend. We had safe travels, and it was nice for Nana and Poppie to take care of Boaz. Laura and I had a respite from the child, and enjoyed the long conversations up to VA. Well, now I shall stop typing and proceed with the actual wedding photographs.

Man and wife. Never before was there such peace between the nations as when America and Switzerland joined forces like this.

The married couple in the courtyard of The Falls Church; autumn came a little early this year I think.

This photo below is one of our favorites; Sarah seemed a little confused, as did nearly every other person, at Jean’s game with his younger relatives.

The game ends, and the people roar with one voice in approval!

More toasts (I think there were more toasts and memory-sharing at this reception than in the history of America).

The couple outside the Jefferson monument. Yes, we figured out you’re not allowed to take “professional photos” inside of the outer columns. So we stayed on the perimeter after being threatened with jail; what’s happened to America? I don’t think Thomas Jefferson would be proud of the action of the police officer towards us. Well, who really knows…

And thus ends our little blog post of the beautiful wedding! Below is a slideshow with more photos if you just couldn’t live with the 50 or so images we put up in this post. Enjoy! And thank you so much to Sarah and Jean for having us serve you with our photography; congrats in your new life together as husband and wife. The Lord bless you, and may you love each other with the love of Christ.
